California’s Environmental Protection Agency has added Bisphenol A (BPA) to its official list of toxic chemicals subject to the rules of Proposition 65. Under Prop. 65, companies must warn the public if chemicals on the list are present in amounts greater than the maximum allowable dosage level (MADL). The state EPA plans to set an MADL for BPA in the next year, before labelling requirements for the chemical go into effect. Last month the American Chemistry Council filed a lawsuit to keep BPA off the list, and that litigation is still pending, Plastics News reports.

House Bill 628 says green building ratings used by the state must award points to wood certified under the Sustainable Forestry Initiative and American Tree Farm System. LEED gives points only to wood certified under the Forest Stewardship Council.
Cornerstone Real Estate Advisers has achieved LEED Operations and Maintenance certifications for three of its Atlanta office assets, totaling more than 800,000 sq ft. Glenridge Highlands One earned LEED Gold, while 1040 and 1050 Crown Pointe Parkway achieved LEED Silver. Cornerstone established a solid waste management policy and worked with Transwestern Sustainability Services to implement green cleaning programs, including training in hazards, use, maintenance, disposal and recycling of cleaning products, TSS says.

The building has green roofs, solar panels for electricity and water heating, and a 15-acre park that recycles rain water and uses heat-resistant plantings. Most building materials came from within 500 miles.
EnerG2, a manufacturer of nano-structured materials for energy storage, has secured ISO 14001 certification for its Albany, Ore., factory, the company says. The certification covers all processes related to energy storage materials manufacturing at the 74,000 sq ft facility.
