It's an arbitrary status symbol here on the DHPD forums--someone is "Exalted", raising their "Karma", when they do something other members approve of. Somone is "Smote", lowering their "Karma", when they do something that other members disapprove of.

Edit: I say... give the impostors the same treatment you would any legitimate DHPD member. If they want to kill in our name, they should be killed for the same reason(s).
