Dear Spartans
So several posts both here and on your noticeboard boil down to
How to tell if you've killed a genuine DHPD member?
Now there's a nice simple question. If only there were a nice simple answer.
Most DHPD members are members of a Squad and we work pretty hard to keep our squad rosters up to date and to regularly update those rosters on the wiki. Unfortunately our main wiki person has just decided that spending ten days lobbying politicians about environmental issues is a better use of his time than updating the DHPD wiki roster. The squads won't be drastically different from those on the wiki but we do have a steady stream of recruits graduating into squads, and people signing up as recruits, which means there may be one or two people who are in a squad but aren't listed.
We also have officers who aren't in squads. These are generally more veteran officers who don't wish to be so active in game, or have recently returned and are not in a squad. We attempt to keep a full list of members here but I'll confess to being unclear what the inclusion criteria are (*flails a bit at the list* *observes that one of the people on it lists Philosophe Knights in their UD Profile* *flails a bit more*). I think its a list of anyone who's ever signed up for the DHPD and who's character hasn't gone inactive or formally left. However it does contain all the non-squaded Officers who frequent this forum. Again it's unlikely to be updated until our Wiki person recovers from his dose of real life.
Obviously most people on the forum have a name that is similar to their character name. If their forum mask is Officer, Moderator, Admin or Recruit, then they are a DHPD Officer. If it's MIA then they haven't posted here for a while but, for all we know, are still active in game. If it's trainee then we don't recognise them as a part of the DHPD.
There are people who like to have "Dunell Hills Police Department" listed as their group but aren't interested in visiting the forums or working with us on operations. Generally, as long as they've had some involvement with the group in the past and are not causing trouble, we're happy to let them do so.
If we don't know who they are we will put them on our Most Wanted List. They are listed as APB only, if we've no evidence that they are causing trouble, and warranted if they've been PKing using our name and so forth. I'm afraid we don't have a specific list of impersonators since the ones who PK are put in with all the PKers on the list. The Dead aren't just a zombie group, they have a nice line in impersonation and PKing as well so there are several of them. Regular warrants are reviewed every three months, so those people are usually active in the area. Perma-warrants are reserved for persistent nuisances but that does mean the characters may no longer be active.
And then there's our beloved Commisssioner Emeritus, and driving force behind making the DHPD one of Malton's major groups, Khannoir, and I honestly couldn't tell you if you were insulting us or doing us a favour if you PK'd him. However, I think he's inactive at the moment, so hopefully the question won't arise.
I bet you're wishing you never asked now...
