I'm not tapped into the gossip mill, but I haven't heard anything regarding the SW. If the danger map is any indicator, I can imagine the difficulty you are facing as we just returned from a long excursion to the east in similarly reported lands.
Having returned to our stomping grounds in Dunell Hills and the surrounding suburbs, we've found the place in rough shape, but poorly occupied by zombies. The Hills themselves are hardly the wasteland that "The Dead" used to make them, suggesting a drop in their activity levels.
