The argument is that philosophy teaches the processes of calm and rational thought and it is those processes that assist in not merely surviving but making some kind of a life that is worth having amid a zombie apocalypse. "Get those barricades back up to heavily." "Who is to say whether they are heavily or very strongly barricaded?" I dunno, if you read the wrong type of philosophy, you'll end up wondering if it's worth even surviving. Which is kind of my point, though I'm not really sure what that is. I mean, I don't know how one can come away from a search for the truth, and remain calm and optimistic. That's just me though.  Can I Godwin you at this point?
